USB Devices not being found
- If your having trouble on an OLD Pc getting USB devices to be seen : in the bios select
ASSIGN IRQ TO USB : YES
Occasional system Lag or Repeating Keys on Keyboard
- When using Speedtouch modems sometime you get Key-repeats or small lags
if you look in the dmesg output (enter)
dmesg
you may see something like
[13783.488000] ATM dev 0: error -110 fetching device status [14043.488000] ATM dev 0: error -110 fetching device status
This appears to be a speedtouch firmware driver issue - explanations here
Doesnt Detect Conflicting Firmware
If you previously tried another Modem (different version of the same manufacturer), then on Ubuntu Dapper (maybe Edgy), you dont get prompted to re-extract the firmware. This is because the Dmesg outputs just arnt there like they are in fiesty.
